In Maybe Make Some Change you are a soldier in Afghanistan you know how to shoot. You then learn other things to allow you to progress the story further. It is telling the story of a soldier that actually happened where he was then put on trial for killing people that was in question of weather he should be killing them or not. The story progresses you learn to look hug you can learn things in the game that make the play more fun. You can get killed if you do the incorrect thing, the game is supposed to be very emotional and very immersive. Its supposed to give you a experience that you cant really get from reading a story. Its basically you writing the story, and being able to feel and empathize with the game, the player and the Npc's. People play so many video games guns and killing people is now a form of entertainment, with this game it doesn't have much graphics, however it gives the users more of a feeling from the killing. It makes the user think about the outcomes of their actions, it creates an ambiance of realism allowing players to relate to real soldiers. What they go through and what can happen if they do something incorrect and the consequences of what can happen.
Pause...
In this piece you have no interaction at all it is about a 30 second piece where you watch some doodles, words, and black and white pictures layered over one another pass by in a almost random style, it is hard to read due to the amount of information shown on the screen at one time and even harder to decipher what is actually happening in the piece. As you look further it seems to be some sort of visual poetry, and also seems to have some sort of political/ news-based roots. the wording along with how it is presented could lead us to believe that it is trying to inspire some sort of political idea, this is further explained in I<3E-Poetry . For example one of the pictures has a man striking the pose of Richard Nixon, other pictures have a man drinking while another has an iconic picture of a man having the world on his back. Looking deeper into this it seems to be trying to convey a message across to the viewer.
Both of these pieces have deeper meaning than just playing or viewing the game and getting to the end, both of them seem to have political purposes behind them allowing the player to think and be involved inside the piece. With pieces like this it allows users to become more informed on some topics that they may be ignorant to while enjoying the success of completing a game.
